Rubik's Cube and Twisty Puzzle Collections

After buying the first Rubik's Cube, and learning how to solve it, people usually fall in love with this game. Next they purchase a 4x4x4 because it's so cool and bigger, then comes a Megaminx or a Pyraminx, and the Rubik's Cube Collection goes bigger and bigger. If you have the money and you start collecting these toys it is hard to stop because they are all so different, each and every one of them meaning a unique challenge.

There are a lot of hard-working and really inventive custom puzzle designers out there who always come up with something new. Don't forget to mention here Tony Fisher and Oskar van Deventer who gave us so many new designs and thanks to 3D printing, these games became available for the masses.

Here is a checklist with the puzzles you must have in your Rubik's Cube collection:

• Classic 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube - your collection is not complete without it
• Mirror Cube (or Mirror Blocks) - the favorite 3x3x3 mod of a lot of cubers
• Megaminx -a Rubik's with 12 faces
• A big cube, like a 7x7x7. If you can solve these then you can solve any size.
• Skewb
• Square-1
• 3x3x4 Cuboid
• 3x3x3 Mastermorphix

The Biggest Collection

According to the Guinness World Records in 2022 the biggest collection belonged to a 40 year old German puzzle enthusiast. Florian Kastenmeier has more than 2000 (1500 uniques) "rotating puzzles" on his shelves, and he keeps adding new items.It took 16 years to reach this number that includes unique, one of a kind puzzles from the oldest prototype to the newest electronic cubes.
